SES: sports content for Japan's Softbank
(CercleFinance.com) - SES today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Japanese connectivity giant SoftBank for the aggregation and distribution of sports content.
Under the terms of the partnership, SES will use its existing satellite infrastructure and fiber network to deliver sports content to SoftBank, which will then market the content to its clients, including TV channels.
The operator explains that the sports events will be transmitted via over 300 downlink antenna, including its new Stockley Park site in London.
SES also plans to establish a new connection to SoftBank's fiber network.
The SES release, which quotes that the Japanese conglomerate says that tennis, football and golf competitions, amongst others, are amongst the most popular content for its clients, requiring it to meet growing demand.
Investors seem to be watching too - the share is currently on the medals podium - up about 4% in early trading today.
