ENI: awarded another 5 licences in Egypt

(CercleFinance.com) - Eni announces that the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum has awarded it five new exploration licences - four of them as an operator - offshore and onshore Egypt.


Located in the Eastern Mediterranean (with two blocks, one of which is 50/50 with bp), in the Gulf of Suez and in the Western Desert, these licences represent a total area of approximately 8,410 km².

The licences are located in prolific basins with proven oil systems and existing production and processing facilities nearby, Eni said.

Present in the country since 1954, Eni is currently the country's largest producer with hydrocarbon output of approximately 350,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The share is down about 0.3% after lunch on Monday.
