Mediaset: denies merger talks with Prosiebensat1

(CercleFinance.com) - Italy's biggest commercial broadcaster Mediaset said on Saturday that there are no ongoing merger talks with German peer Prosiebensat1 Media.


"In relation to today's press rumors, Mediaset specifies that no negotiations are underway for a merger with the German television group," the group said.

The update came after CEOs of companies belonging to the European Media Alliance - a network of powerful European media broadcasters - said last week that they were exploring "strategic initiatives" to accelerate the transformation of the entertainment business in Europe.

Mediaset shares were up 1.1% in Milan after the release, while Prosieben shares rose 1.2% in Frankfurt.
