TechnipFMC: starts work on refinery in Egypt

(CercleFinance.com) - TechnipFMC has announced the start of construction works of the new hydrocracking complex for the Assiut refinery in Egypt, in accordance with the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract signed with Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC).


Described by TechnipFMC as a "major contract" (i.e. exceeding 1 billion euros), this project supports the Egyptian government's energy transition strategy and will enhance economic growth in rural areas while minimising environmental emissions and reducing the government's export bill, TechnipFMC said.

The complex will transform lower value petroleum products from the nearby Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC) refinery into approximately 2.8 million tonnes per year of cleaner products, such as Euro V diesel.

The contract's award will be included in the company's Q4 2020 incoming orders.
