easyJet: to create new airline in Austria post-Brexit.

(CercleFinance.com) - easyJet said on Friday that it plans to establish a new airline, easyJet Europe, which will be headquartered in Vienna and which will enable the company to continue to operate flights within European countries after Brexit.

easyJet earlier this year applied to Austrian authorities for an airline operating licence, an accreditation process which is now "well advanced."

The company says it hopes to receive the licence "in the near future."

The new structure means that easyJet would become a pan-European airline group with three airlines based in Austria, Switzerland and the UK.

All of these will be owned by easyJet plc which itself will be listed on the London Stock Exchange and based in the UK.

The company said no jobs will move from the UK to Austria.

In the meantime, easyJet is still pushing for the UK and EU to reach an aviation agreement post-Brexit, the company said.
