Thomas Cook: is considering selling its airline

5% in London this afternoon, while according to an article in the Sunday Times quoting industry sources, the tour operator is considering selling its air transport business.

Such a deal discussed in internal discussions is intended to free up cash for the British travel giant, which could then be used to reduce its heavy debt, while financing its expansion.

The Sunday newspaper says that work for a possible split still appears to be just in early stages, with no decision set to be taken imminently, although such an action could revive the company after years of unrest.
