LSE: Euronext's offer for acquisition of Borsa Italiana

(CercleFinance.com) - The London Stock Exchange Group's share is up nearly 1.
5% on Friday, following the announcement by Euronext of discussions for the acquisition of the Italian stock exchange.

Euronext confirmed this morning that it is currently in discussions with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) to make an offer to London Stock Exchange Group to acquire the business and main operating assets of Borsa Italiana.

Note that LSE is in the process of acquiring Refinitiv, a provider of data and infrastructure for financial markets.

According to Brussels, the transaction would combine significant securities trading platforms, which could lead to a "very significant" combined market share.

The Commission will decide by 27 October.
