LSE: in-depth investigation into acquisition of Refinitiv

(CercleFinance.com) - The London Stock Exchange Group shares rallied on Tuesday morning on the London Stock Exchange following the European Commission's announcement that it is opening an in-depth investigation into the proposed acquisition of Refinitiv, a provider of data and infrastructure for financial markets.


According to Brussels, the deal would combine large securities trading platforms, which could lead to a very significant combined market share.

The Commission is also concerned that competitors in the market for real-time consolidated data feeds and desktop services ("desks") would be excluded from access to LSE input data.

The Commission now has 90 working days, i.e. until 27 October, to take a decision.

After falling almost 2% yesterday, the London Stock Exchange Group's share wiped out this loss on Tuesday morning, up 2,7% at 11.20 am.
