GlaxoSmithKline: ovarian cancer drug shows positive results

(CercleFinance.com) - British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline said a late-stage trial of its Zejula pill for ovarian cancer had shown positive results for patients.


The company said in a statement that a Phase 3 trial on Zejula as a maintenance therapy in patients with first-line ovarian cancer following chemotherapy met its primary endpoint of a statistically significant improvement in progression free survival.

Almost 300,000 women around the world are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. It is the fifth most frequent cause of cancer death among women.
