GSK: expanded indication for flu vaccine

(CercleFinance.com) - GSK has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) expanding the indication for Fluaris Quadrivalent to include use in persons of 6 months and older.


Prior to this, the vaccine was only approved for active immunization against influenza A subtype viruses and type B viruses, in persons of 3 years and older.

Flu activity is now widespread in most of the United States, with the number of respiratory specimens positive for flu reaching 25% in clinical laboratories.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends everyone 6 months & older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.
