GSK: ex-Roche executive appointed chief scientific officer.

(CercleFinance.com) - GSK yesterday said that Dr Hal Barron had been appointed chief scientific officer and president of R&D, effective from 1 January 2018.


Currently president R&D at Calico, an Alphabet-funded biology company, Barron was previously chief medical officer at Roche.

"In our view, this is unquestionably a great hire by the new CEO given Barron's reputation and track record at Roche that included the development of multiple blockbusters such as Avastin, Tarceva, Lucentis and Perjeta," commented analysts at Liberum.

Dr Barron has also been appointed as an executive director on GSK's board.
