bp: consortium officially bidding for ScotWind project
(CercleFinance.com) - The consortium led by bp and EnBW announced on Monday that it has applied for the "ScotWind" tender, the huge wind project planned off the Scottish coast.
The British energy group and the German electricity company EnBW specify that their project concerns a marine concession representing a cumulative power of 2.9 gigawatts (GW).
In a statement, both companies say that their project goes far beyond the construction of an offshore platform by also providing for the establishment of an ecosystem integrating construction activities, the development of green hydrogen and a network for electric vehicles.
Under the terms of the project, Scotland would become bp's centre of excellence for offshore wind, a program that aspires to make the country a "world leader" in the field with investments that could reach 10 billion pounds (almost 12 billion euros).
