Rio Tinto: commits to re-building relations with the PKKP

(CercleFinance.com) - Global miner Rio Tinto assures that it has taken measures to re-build relations with the Aboriginal people of Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) following the destruction of the Juukan Gorge in May 2020.


The PKKP, in cooperation with Rio Tinto, has participated in works to restore the Juukan Gorge, and these works will carry on, indicates Rio Tinto.

A joint meeting of the committees of the PKKP and Rio Tinto took place to reconfirm the apologies and Rio Tinto's commitment to rebuilding this relationship.

On its part, the PKKP took note of the appointment of the new Executive Director of Rio Tinto, and hopes that discussions between the PKKP and Rio Tinto will move forward in a positive direction, reports Rio Tinto.
