Pearson: organic sales decline slows down in third quarter

(CercleFinance.com) - British publisher Pearson on Wednesday reported a 10% fall in underlying sales during the third quarter, sharply better compared to the 28% drop recorded in the second quarter.

The world's largest education company said it benefited from an "improving trend" in the last quarter, with a "strong performance" in its online learning business.

"Our digital performance is very strong, as we support customers and learners around the world as they shift to fully online and hybrid learning," the group said.

After nine months in the year, Pearson said it is on track to deliver an outturn broadly in line with market expectations.

Consensus aims at an adjusted operating profit, excluding Penguin Random House, of 331 million pounds this year.
