BAE Systems: howitzer shortlisted to equip Swiss Army

(CercleFinance.com) - BAE Systems has announced that the Swiss government has selected its mobile howitzer, the ARCHER 55mm, for the final phase of the competition to select the future artillery system for its army.


BAE Systems says that ARCHER is a "fully automated" system and designed for rapid deployment to respond quickly to threats and provide superior mobility, lethality and survivability.

ARCHER can fire BONUS anti-armour ammunition up to 35 km, conventional ammunition up to 40 km and Excalibur precision-guided ammunition over 50 km.
