Suez: four new energy from waste plants in Europe.

(CercleFinance.com) - Suez announced on Thursday that it will strengthen its positions in sustainable energy production in Europe through the commissioning of four new energy from waste plants.

Three of these plants will be deployed in the UK and the fourth in Poland. They will manage 1.2 million tonnes of additional residual waste.
With the commissioning of four new plants (three in the UK and one in Poland) that will handle an additional 1.2 million tonnes of residual waste, the Group boosts its recovery capacity and further confirms its role as a major energy recovery producer.

As a result, this year Suez will recover over 9 million tons of waste in 55 Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plants in Europe. Seven TWh4 of energy will be sold, which is the equivalent of the annual consumption of a city with two million inhabitants, such as Vienna or Hamburg, and will avoid over 1.5 million tonnes of CO² emissions.
