Rexel: despite Amazon, activist investor Cevian ups stake.

(CercleFinance.com) - A statement issued yesterday by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers relayed the statement that on 8 September, the Swedish activist investment fund founded by Lars Förberg and Christer Gardell, Cevian Capital Partners, raised its stake above the 15% threshold of Rexel's share capital and voting rights.


On this date, and after the purchase of shares on the open market, the asset management company, which is well known for its shareholder activism, held, via its Maltese subsidiary, 15.63% of the capital and voting rights of the distributor of electrical supplies to professional users.

On this occasion, Cevian Capital Partners specified that it does not intend to take control of Rexel and intends, if necessary, to continue its purchases, depending on market conditions. It does not intend to request an seat on the group's board of directors.
