SES: demonstration of satellite-guided aircraft

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday evening, SES announced that it has completed the first demonstration of an aircraft remotely guided by satellite.


The test, conducted on behalf of General Atomics, linked the software developed by Hughes with SES's geosynchronous (GEO) and medium earth (MEO) orbit capacity.

The test reproduced a typical unmanned 'surveillance and reconnaissance' mission (ISR) by transmitting high-definition video data from and to the unmanned vehicle and the command centre.
