EDF: details on nuclear reactors

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF has provided a detailed update on the stress corrosion phenomenon (SCC) detected on portions of the auxiliary circuit piping of the main primary circuit of several nuclear reactors.


On 10 March 2023, EDF proposed a change in its strategy for monitoring stress corrosion to the ASN. EDF is accelerating the inspection of the welds concerned in the RIS and RRA systems, in order to take into account the elements identified on the repaired weld in Penly 1, it said.

The ASN today said that it had taken note of this change in strategy and is continuing its technical dialogue with EDF to ensure that the planned schedule was appropriate.

To date, and based on the control strategy proposed by EDF, the estimate of nuclear production in France for 2023 remains between 300 and 330 TWh, the group added.
