EDF: ASN modifies discharge limits of plants

(CercleFinance.com) - The French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) announced on Monday that it has temporarily modified its regulations concerning thermal discharges from five of EDF's nuclear power plants due to the current heat wave.


The ASN explains that the modifications to the regulations governing the Blayais, Bugey, Golfech, Saint-Alban and Tricastin power plants should also make it possible to meet the need to save natural gas and water reserves in hydroelectric dams.

The agency points out that the heatwave has led to an unusual rise in the temperature of some rivers, which means that the limit values in force on the temperature of liquid discharges from power plants may not be respected.
