EDF: CEO recaps price changes

(CercleFinance.com) - On RTL radio station this morning, EDF's CEO, Jean-Bernard Lévy, discussed the government's announcement that electricity billed to EDF customers - a group that is still largely owned by the French State - would not increase at the beginning of next year.

This announcement has been made in the politically tense context of the "gilets jaunes" demonstrations nationwide.
Basically, a third of the final price paid for electricity is attributable to its production, a third to its transport and the final third to taxes, EDF's boss pointed out.

Mr Lévy confirmed that the minister sets prices, underlining that tariffs are determined by the government on the basis of proposals made by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).
