EDF: target for reduction in nuclear energy maintained.

(CercleFinance.com) - Via its Twitter account, EDF has formally denied BFMTV's assertions by which the electricity giant would be trying to postpone, until 2050, its target of reducing nuclear energy to below 50% of the group's energy mix.

The group has denied "malicious rumors" about the existence of an alleged secret plan that would counter the government's aims.

As a reminder, the energy transition law, adopted under the presidency of François Hollande, provides for nuclear energy representing less than 50% of the total contribution to the energy mix by 2025. The said law remains current, as confirmed by the new Minister of Ecological transition and solidarity, Nicolas Hulot, who also assured that the Fessenheim (Haut-Rhin) power plant, which is the oldest in France, will be closed.
