EDF: closure of Fessenheim under conditions.

(CercleFinance.com) - EDF's board of directors of gave an update yesterday on the closure of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant in Alsace, one of President François Hollande's promises before his presidency ends.


The plant will indeed be closed, although not immediately, and subject to the commissioning of Flamanville 3.

The group is considering "the irreversible and inevitable closure" of the site in Alsace, although subject to a number of conditions. First of all, Fessenheim will not stop operating until the EPR reactor, which is being built in Flamanville (tranche n° 3) has entered into service, i.e. a priori towards 2019.
