Alstom: successful tests for hybrid TER, Austria deal

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom has announced that the prototype of the energy storage system of the first hybrid TER has completed its tests on the test bench at the Alstom site in Tarbes (65).


These tests made it possible to complete the design and start production of the pre-series systems in September. They will be mounted on the first experimental hybrid TER in early 2021.

This hybrid TER is the first hybridization project for a Régiolis train in France, a concept that consists of replacing half of the heat engines with storage systems made up of lithium-ion batteries.

Separately, Alstom's Coradia iLint, the world's first passenger train equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell, has successfully passed three months of testing on regional lines of the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), Alstom also announced late yesterday.
