Alstom: 60-million-euro contract in Australia

(CercleFinance.com) - The Alstom Group announced today that it has signed a contract for approximately 60 million euros with Transport for Victoria (TfV), the public transport authority of Victoria State (in the south-east of Australia), to supply five additional X'Trapolis trainsets for Melbourne's suburban rail network.

This new order will allow TfV to expand its fleet to 106 trains (or 636 cars) delivered since 2002 from Alstom's Ballarat site.

“This contract will provide workload for the [Ballarat] site between April and December 2019, while we continue to work with the State to secure the long term future of the Ballarat Workshops and the local supply chain,” indicated Mark Coxon, Managing Director of Alston in Australia and New Zealand.
