Biomérieux: Filmarray RP2 approved by the FDA.

(CercleFinance.com) - BioMérieux has announced that its molecular biology subsidiary, BioFire, has received the US Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) accreditation for the use of its FilmArray 2 (RP2) respiratory panel.


The in-vitro diagnostic specialist says that its FilmArray RP2 panel enables tests 21 pathogens (17 viruses and 4 bacteria) to be tested. These pathogens are responsible for infections of the respiratory tract and will be commercially available by mid-June 2017.

This enriched version of the FilmArray respiratory panel (RP) gives a shorter result time (45 minutes versus about an hour), greater sensitivity and the updating of several pathogens that are already present in FilmArray.
