Orange: collaborates in transatlantic cable with Telxius

(CercleFinance.com) - Orange is teaming up with Telxius, Telefónica Group's communications infrastructure company, to collaborate on the extension of terrestrial links for the Dunant cable in Europe and the US, as part of a Google project.

This 6,600 km long transatlantic cable will connect the United States to the French Atlantic coast and is set to be commissioned in late 2020.

Orange and Telxius will offer and operate co-location services in their respective landing stations, located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez (France) and Virginia Beach (United States).

"Both are strategic locations as they are located near main connectivity hubs on both sides of the Atlantic," the group said.

"It is a valuable extension to Orange's global network joining our Atlantic and Mediterranean routes to Africa, the Middle East and Asia with guaranteed best in class quality of service," said Jerome Barré, CEO of Orange Wholesale and International Networks.
