Orange: selected for Universal Service in France
(CercleFinance.com) - The French Ministry of the Economy and Finance has announced that it has designated the incumbent telecom operator Orange, for a period of three years, as operator of the universal service of electronic communications.
This service guarantees all people access to wireline telephone service at an affordable price - the same for all subscribers - which is an essential safety net for users who do not yet benefit from new generation networks.
Under this new designation, Orange must comply with a specification with greater quality and service obligations, including repair times and delays of connecting homes to the network and breakdown repair.
