Vinci: signs E292m contract in Benin

(CercleFinance.com) - Vinci Energies announced late on Thursday that it has signed a contract worth 292 million euros for the construction of a set of electricity transmission and distribution infrastructures in Benin.

Spread over three years, the work will consist of building over 500 km of high- and very-high voltage power lines, overhead and underground, as well as more than 1,000 km of medium- and low-voltage distribution networks. It also plans to connect several thousand homes.

In the contract, seven very high voltage transformer substations will be built and four high voltage substations will be subject to capacity extension work.

The project covers eight of the twelve departments of Benin and will supply several developing economic and industrial activity zones, including an airport, an administrative centre, a hospital and new residential districts.
