Vinci: wins contract for road link in Virginia

(CercleFinance.com) - Vinci Construction announces that a consortium in which it has a 33% stake, has won the contract for the I-64 road link between Hampton and Norfolk in Virginia.
This contract is worth 3.3 billion dollars (2.9 billion euros).

The project, for which studies last 18 months, with related work lasting 56 months, concerns the design-construction of 5.3 km of viaducts at sea and new tunnels, as well as widening existing roads totalling 14.5 km.

Each day, over 100,000 vehicles use the existing road, which dates back to 1976, causing traffic jams of up to 8 km before the bridge: therefore, this project will relieve congestion on the existing network, Vinci said.
