Veolia: waste recovery contract in Mexico.

(CercleFinance.com) - Veolia has announced having won the public tender from the government of Mexico City and signed a contract for the design, construction and management of the first unit of waste recovery for recycling in Latin America.

The plant's construction is expected to begin in 2017 and will take three years. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2020. This unit will process nearly 1.6 million tonnes of household waste per year. Electricity produced by the facilities, which will amount to 965,000 MWh p.a. will supply the Metro in Mexico City.

The operation and maintenance of this facility - over 30 years - will represent cumulative estimated revenues of 886 million euros for Veolia. Each day, this new facility will transform nearly a third of the city's household waste into green energy.
