SES: partners Microsoft around Azure

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday SES formaliqed a partnership with Microsoft to deploy the machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities of the Azure cloud platform.


Under the terms of the project, an Azure Stack Edge Mini R edge computing device has been paired with the satellite operator's SES Cloud Direct service.

This configuration also relies on a rapidly deployable tactical satcom terminal provided by the UK's GRC and a secure connection via the SES-owned GovSat-1 satellite.

According to SES, initial demonstrations have demonstrated the value of the device for a number of scenarios, such as a remote disaster relief operation.
