Peugeot: family mentions a new Opel deal

(CercleFinance.com) - In an interview with Les Echos, Robert Peugeot, Chairman and CEO of the family holding company FFP, which owns 12% of Peugeot, declares that if necessary, and subject to certain conditions, he would support a new Opel operation.

The Opel operation (German car maker bought by Peugeot from General Motors, ed.) has been a great success and we didn't think that it could recover so fast, said Mr. Peugeot in Les Echos. We have been supporting the Opel project from the start, and if there is another opportunity, we will not hesitate, and Carlos Tavares (Peugeot's boss, ed.) knows this, he added.

However, Mr. Peugeot also says that a particular combination of circumstances will be necessary, and that no specific case is currently being studied.
