(CercleFinance.com) - Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), today announced that it has signed a contract with the Korean Space Agency KARI to supply the electric propulsion system for the GEO-KOMPSAT-3 satellite.

The GK3 multi-band telecommunications satellite, which is scheduled for launch in 2027, will provide broadband communication services across the Korean peninsula and its maritime space, the group said.

As part of the contract, the company will offer its latest generation TETRA solution. Thales Alenia Space in Belgium will supply the power unit, and Thales' Microwave & Imaging Sub-systems business in Germany will supply the electric thruster.
