Thales: surveillance radar for Brazil

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announces that the Commission for the implementation of the airspace control system (CISCEA) has chosen Omnisys, a subsidiary of Thales, to deploy surveillance radars in the cities of Ponta Porã, Corumbá and Porto Murtinho in Brazil.


These new radars, to be manufactured in Brazil, will enhance the region's aerial radar coverage. They will help the Brazilian Air force fight against drug trafficking and other forms of smuggling in the border area of the central-west region.

In order to limit the entry of illicit goods into the Brazilian market, the radars developed by Omnisys will improve air cover and facilitate the control of aircraft flying at low altitudes that fly over the region illegally, the company said.
