Michelin: in-flight testing of 1st connected aircraft tyre

(CercleFinance.com) - Michelin and Safran Landing Systems announce the successful in-flight tests of the first PresSense connected aircraft tyre on a Dassault Aviation Falcon 2000S.

In-flight test sessions on different aircraft platforms will take place in late 2019 and early 2020.

PresSense is a wireless solution designed to facilitate ground maintenance operations for airlines.

The electronic sensor collects tyre pressure information and transmits this digital data remotely, the group said. All this is without having to interfere with the tyre, thanks to a reader that is connected and linked to a database.

Frank Moreau, Director of Michelin's Business Aircraft Line, said that PresSense helps to ensure the right pressure by optimising measurement time in all circumstances, at any airport or theatere of operations, for both civil and military applications. Continuous improvements in safety remain a fundamental element of Michelin's approach to sustainable mobility.
