Saft: delivers battery systems to Alstom

(CercleFinance.com) - Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, has begun delivering backup battery systems for Alstom's Metropolis metro trains for the Grand Paris Express, Europe's largest transport project.


Saft has already supplied the first 10 battery systems for five of the 183 trains that will be needed for the three new lines (15, 16 and 17) by 2030.

The batteries will power on-board signalling and control systems, security lighting, door control, communication systems, as well as ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and USB charging sockets.

Saft batteries have been used on Paris regional trains for over 80 years: in 1985, all metros and regional express trains were already equipped with them.
