TotalEnergies: global methane detection campaign

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies has launched a global campaign to detect and quantify methane emissions from all its upstream Oil & Gas facilities by drone, using its AUSEA technology developed with the CNRS and the University of Reims.


AUSEA (Airborne Ultralight Spectrometer For Environmental Applications) consists of a dual miniature sensor, mounted on a drone, capable of detecting and quantifying methane and carbon dioxide emissions while identifying the source of these emissions.

This campaign is an important step towards achieving the French energy group's target of reducing methane emissions at its operated sites by 50% by 2025 and 80% by 2030 relative to 2020.
