TotalEnergies: green energy project in the water

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies announced on Wednesday that it has joined the initiative launched by Masdar and Siemens Energy in the United Arab Emirates to accelerate the development of green hydrogen and the production of sustainable jet fuel.


The three energy groups today signed a collaboration agreement to develop a pilot unit based in Masdar City, the emirate's new "green" city, which would produce green hydrogen and convert CO2 into sustainable jet fuel.

Announced last year by Masdar, the project brings together the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Energy, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa and Siemens Energy, amongst others.

After conducting feasibility and design studies, the project is due to enter the engineering phase this year.

TotalEnergies says it will contribute its expertise in sustainable aviation fuel production and marketing to the project.
