Total: Saft to equip AVIC's MA700

(CercleFinance.com) - Saft, Total's battery subsidiary, announces the signing of a new contract with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China Ltd (AVIC) to equip each MA700 regional transport aircraft with two Saft Ultra Low Maintenance (ULM) batteries.


AVIC is one of the world's largest aviation groups. Built by its subsidiary AVIC XAC Commercial Aircraft Co, the 80-seat MA700 turboprop plane is designed for short- and medium-haul flights. Its maiden flight is scheduled for 2020.

Saft says that its ULM batteries will safely and reliably deliver the auxiliary power unit (APU) start-up power, as well as backup energy when needed for vital systems.
