Total: update on transparency of drilling in Guyana

(CercleFinance.com) - As Total prepares to launch its exploration campaign on the Guyana Maritime permit, located 150 kilometres off the coast of French Guiana, in the days following the arrival of the drilling vessel on site, the group today says that "constantly seeking to minimize the environmental risk” and " is determined to act with transparency".


Thus, Total undertakes not to conduct its drilling in coral reefs, to report on the progress of its work throughout the drilling under the monitoring and consultation commission, and invites NGOs that so wish to visit its facilities.

"Total's objective on the Guyane Maritime license is to drill one last exploration well, following the five formerly drilled between 2011 and 2013 in order to conclude definitively whether an exploitation phase is relevant," the group said.
