Total: subsidiary Saft signs big contract in the UK.

(CercleFinance.com) - Saft will supply Rolls-Royce Marine with 2 Seanergy lithium-ion battery systems that are designed for marine applications, Total announced on Monday afternoon.


The specialist of industrial batteries said that these batteries will be integrated into the hybrid propulsion systems of the scientific research vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough.

Designed by Rolls-Royce Marine, this new polar expedition ship, which is one of the best equipped vessels in the history of scientific vessels, was ordered by NERC, the British Environmental Research Institute. It will be operated by the British Antarctic Survey operator, while Rolls-Royce Marine will be directly responsible for integrating the new equipment.
