Carrefour: offers reusable returnable packaging

(CercleFinance.com) - Through its partnership with Loop, a circular economy startup company, Carrefour intends to adopt the use of reusable packaging by consumers.


Today Carrefour announced the launch of a returnable and reusable packaging solution in hypermarkets, in Montesson (78) and in 10 new convenience stores.

Customers will find many everyday products in sustainable and returnable packaging. Once the products have been consumed, each customer will be able to return the empty packaging and have the “deposit” refunded. Sorted and cleaned, the packaging will then be refilled and put back into the loop several dozen times.

In a time that it announces as "very fast", more than 100 products will be concerned, Carrefour says.

In France, each person generates nearly 70kg of plastic waste each year. Half of this is packaging.
