Air Liquide: PEM electrolyser inaugurated in Canada

(CercleFinance.com) - Air Liquide has announced the inauguration, in Bécancour (Quebec), of the world's largest low-carbon hydrogen membrane-based production unit.


Powered by renewable energy, it now produces up to 8.2 tonnes per day of low-carbon hydrogen.

With a capacity of 20 MW, this new PEM electrolyser will help meet the growing demand for low-carbon hydrogen in North America. It increases Air Liquide's hydrogen production capacity at Bécancour by 50%.

"Compared to the traditional hydrogen production process, this new production unit will avoid the emission of around 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to the emissions of 10,000 cars per year", the industrial gas group said.
