Safran: E500m EIB loan to research carbon-free air transport

(CercleFinance.com) - Safran has announced that the European Investment Bank (EIB) has made available a 500 million euro bank loan to finance its research activities on innovative propulsion systems for the next generation of single-aisle commercial aircraft, a key step in Safran's roadmap towards carbon-free air transport.


The project targets carbon-neutral flights by 2050 and is based on four main pillars: the search for the best propulsive efficiency, intensive optimisation of energy management, and the development of disruptive technologies and their integration.

The loan will be made available by September 2022, at Safran's option, with a maturity of up to 10 years from the date the funds are made available.
