Safran: joint-venture with Boeing starts operations

(CercleFinance.com) - Boeing and Safran today announce that they have secured regulatory approvals to begin their joint venure (50/50 held) for the design, building and servicing of Auxiliary Power Units (APU).


The APU are onboard engines that are primarily used to start the main engines and power aircraft systems while on the ground and, if necessary, in flight.

The companies have named Etienne Boisseau as Chief Executive Officer of the joint venture. The joint-venture's name, along with the location of its future headquarters, and production and service sites will be announced at a later date.
