Atos: increases supercomputer capacity in Brazil

(CercleFinance.com) - Atos announced on Tuesday that it has increased the capacity of the Santos Dumont supercomputer fivefold.


This machine was originally delivered in 2015 to the National Laboratory of Scientific Computing of Brazil. "This update confirms its position as the most powerful supercomputer in Latin America dedicated to research and puts it back on the world's Top500 list," Atos said.

The supercomputer is installed in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro - the extension gives it capacity of 4 additional petaflops. It "will now operate with a total processing capacity of approximately 5.1 quadrillion operations per second, an increase of approximately 350% compared to the original 2015 specification of 1.1 Petaflops," the company added.
