Atos: supercomputer contract.

(CercleFinance.com) - Atos announces that it has won a contract with GENCI (Grand Équipement National de Calcul Intensif) to deliver one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world at the end of 2017 through its technology brand, Bull.


As the successor of the Curie system installed at the TGCC (Très Grand Centre de Calcul) of the CEA in Bruyères-Le-Chatel, the Bull Sequana supercomputer, with an overall power of 9 PFLOPS, and able to execute 9 million billion operations per second, will serve for French and European research purposes.

The applications of supercomputers are manifold and varied such as climate research, where the supercomputer can be used to model past, present and future meteorological conditions with extreme accuracy as part of the international activities of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
