Air France: EU greenlights Virgin Atlantic project

(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has approved the proposed acquisition of joint control of Virgin Atlantic by Air France-KLM, Delta and the Virgin Group.


The Commission concludes that the deal would not raise any competition concerns within the European Economic Area.

Today's decision concerns the proposed acquisition by Air France-KLM of a 31% joint controlling stake in Virgin Atlantic Limited, which will lead to the acquisition of joint control of Virgin Atlantic by Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines Inc. and the Virgin Group.

"The Commission has examined the impact of the operation on (i) the passenger air transport market, (ii) the market for air freight services and (iii) the market for maintenance, repair and overhaul services".
