Kone: wins order for 20 metro escalators in Stockholm

(CercleFinance.com) - Finnish lift maker Kone said it has won an order to deliver 20 escalators to a new metro line extension in Stockholm.


The first phase of the blue line extension - one of the city's largest infrastructure projects - will add another four kilometres and two new stations to the existing metro line in the northwest of the capital.

Stockholm is one of the fastest growing European capitals with an annual population growth rate of approximately 40,000, Kone said.

Installation work will begin in 2022, with the line set to be opened in 2026.
